Megadrum Layouts in DXF or PLT Format

Postby Chrescht » Mon Aug 30, 2010 2:32 pm

Hi all,
i am very interested in building the Megadrum.
As i have a CNC Router at home i would like to ask if anyone has
the PCB Layouts in DXF or PLT Format?
Thx for your Help

Greetings

Best you will do is probably Synthex's v2.5. It is only a 32 input version, but it's the last on that was done that has a single sided PCB and a posted layout. Look through that thread and you will find a PDF file in there.

I tried it.
But even with Adobe Prof. i can not produce a clean DXF file.
The areas should be closed polylines but they are build with many many squares.
Nevertheless, thx for your help.

Hi again,
i could now generate a useful DXF file for ouline milling the pcb but with the board files under Diptrace.
My only worries now are, as Dmitri changed to Kicad, are there any differences
in the schematics between the Diptrace files and the Kicad files?
Is it still useful to use the Diptrace files to build a Megadrum32?

Thx for your help

There have been some changes to the schematic since the time long ago when I switched from DipTrace to Kicad.

Out of curiosity, isn't it easier, cheaper and quicker to just use the available PCB designs for Digital and Analogue boards?

Hi Dmitri, thx for your reply.

As i have the CNC Router and all nescessary materials at home its easier for me :-)
Drilling of all the holes will also be done automatically.
CNC is one of my hobbies so i can combine all of them. Drums, CNC, and electronics.

In Diptrace an outline function is integrated which gives excellent DXF results for CNC milling.
Kicad still makes some problems with its export functions. Either the files are not usable or they need
a lot of modifications.

Where the changes you made to the Kicad schematic files that important so that you would not recommend
to use the Diptrace schematics?

My modified accoustic drumset is waiting for its new controller :-)

I can only suggest to compare Kicad and Diptrace schematics and look for differences.

Hi all,

Finally i was able to generate a useful DXF outline file out of the Kikad files which can be used to
mill the analogue and digital PCB board with a CNC mill.

I had to export the the Kikad Bottom layout as Gerber file, than import it into Diptrace trial version, readding the pads and than exporting as DXF again.

If someone is interested in the files, just PM me.

Best regards
