Hardware-Inputs to Software-Channels?

Postby ArnoNym » Fri Nov 12, 2010 5:16 pm

Hi everybody,

finished my megadrum some weeks ago. Its a combination of a coltronic-hardware-concept and the megadrum-software built into one flightcase.

now i try to programm the the megadrum ..... so it can work with my laptop battery sampler.

1st question:
------------
i have 10 pads (every with one piezo and of course 2 wires) connected to the inputs. but i dont understand what hardware input belongs to which software-channel????

2nd question:
-------------
if i hit a pad my software sampler (battery midi learn feature) recognised diferrent midi-notes.

e.g.:

low velocities note C2
high velocitie notes C2 AND D2

how could this be.... i want to programm like one hit with on note to my sampler .... any hints?

thank you guys

Do you have MCT loaded? It's not essential, but I find it's a little simpler to use than the little LCD on the MegaDrum.

Which input to which software channel? I'm not really sure what you mean by this. Generally, the drum pads will all by on the same MIDI channel (that being 10). Is that the "channel" you're referring to, or do you mean that you want to know what note number is assigned to each pad? That will depend on what the midi note mapping numbers are in your sampler, however I think for a starting point you simply could use General MIDI mapping numbers. Most important is to assign a different note number to each pad. If your pads are all single zone and you're just routing one pad to one input, then make sure to set the pad dual zone to "no" AND disable the rim/edge zone (go to the screen where you enter the note number for the rim/edge and lower it all the way to "disabled").

I don't know anything about your sampler (battery?) so I can't say for sure what's happening there. However, I think the first thing to do, before even trying to get the software triggered is to get the MegaDrum settings all dialed in first. You need to get each pad's high level, and retrigger, DynTime, etc set up properly before you can get it to trigger the software properly.
