Through Hole Damage

Postby NovaKaine » Sun Dec 18, 2011 9:17 am

After replacing some resistors I pulled some of the through holes from the pcb.
The top copper caps it would seem.
Will this cause some problems, and is ti possible to repair?
Thanks in advance.

Can you post some photos? I have repaired issues like this in the past by scraping the soldermask off of the affected trace and connecting a short piece of wire to the nearest portion of the trace that is still intact. This is not an easy fix, but possible. If you have double sided boards and the top copper is connected to the bottom copper through the hole, then you may need to solder the top and the botom of the component to regain the continuity from the top to the bottom of the PCB.

Oh nevermind found some good fixes online, check out rear window defroster fluid.
It's liquid, conductive and fast drying.
Works great for the thru hole damage.
