Yeah thats me on the vdrum forum. i'll probably start posting the worklog up there too, when i'm not painting and sanding.

cool krchnakp, i noticed your post somewhere a while ago with that design.

So is that cad picture or have you finished building it?

Small update today, buttons arrived so i can wire up the keyboard.

Also ordered a matching aluminium water bottle :P don't think zendrumming will make me as thirsty as i was playing the drums yesterday but it better than refilling lucozade sport bottles.

Piezos arrived yesterday, neoprene washers came a few days before that.

Had to rip the white packing foam in all the lids, tested it with it kept in and the triggers weren't as sensitive as i wanted.

Then stuck double sided tape into all the lids, put the piezo in, cut the washers so they would fit around the wires.

A few hours later and i have:

finished sanding of the sealer layer, drilled the holes for the strap locks, and drilled all the holes for wiring and put in the mounts for the board.

Had to sink them down to get the board to fit. now i realise why the zendrums are 2.5" thick

If you are not a tormented man who believes his father was entombed alive after suffering a cataleptic attack. And then to avoid a similar fate, you have constructed a special tomb that will allow you to escape. And if no an attempt to allay your fears by your wife never encouraged you to open you father's tomb to determine whether the elder man died peacefully. Then my worst suspicions are not realized and this is a great thing you have born - well done you - cheers!

Now I know why I always hear the faint sound of drums while strolling through the local graveyard - previously I simply assumed it was a sign of the inevitable marching band zombie apocalypse. *phew*

Great job Effraktor!

Small update (although probably the hardest part so far)

cut about half of the tops off the jars and put the lids on them ready to be mounted to the body once it's painted.

My original idea was to cut neoprene with an adhesive side to fit inside the jar top and stick that to the body and hot glue the neoprene to the plastic. Hopefully this will be strong enough rather than having to use glue on the body and potentialy crack the paint if any ever break off.

Still hard at work cutting jar tops. Realised i was sent more lids than i ordered but not more jars so i've had to order some more.

Hopefully going to start painting it red soon. Just started snowing today so spraying it outside is off the table, the place my band practices has a spray room so i may take it down there.

heres some pics of the triggers against the body, i think it's going to look stunning when it's finished :D

its going to be on mounted on the back at the top so i can control the buttons with my left hand. It'll be covered by a piece of clear pvc i've painted black to give at a nice clean finish. Something lik this:
