It's the meaning of "optional", isn't it?

if I want to use USB to program, I'll have to use the PIC18F2550, right?

I don't understand the question.

with them it is possible to record the sound in the board directly?

The board will not record sounds directly with or without optional components.

my first question was wondering if I need to make any changes on the board to not use Them, or if it's just not put Them on the board?

without the PIC18F2550 is not possible to use USB to program the Megadrum?

If they are optional then they can be omitted.

If PIC18F2550 is omitted, MegaDrum will not have USB so you cannot use MegaDrum over USB.

already bought the components to build the scheme of 56 entries ... the only thing I'm missing is the 4851

It is possible to replace this IC on the other, in the same schema?

All the components you bought will fit http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=266

You already have a choice between schematics which use 4051 with bat85 diodes or 4851 ICs. 4051 ICs are available everywhere. If you have problems sourcing 4851 ICs, choose a schematic which uses 4051 ICs. There is no third option.

It is up to you. There are SOIC to DIP converters out there, e.g. on ebay, but they are expensive. Or if you searched better, you would have found this: http://uk.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Texa ... IQGUY2M%3d
