Next phase: Front Panel. I got the LCD and 40 pin ribbon ordered. The push buttons are included but I want to find some bigger ones. (My fingers are rather large  )

The power on/off toggle: can I use a "rocker" style switch?

Your approach to electronics is very meticulous:) Of course you can use a rocker switch!

Is that a "good thing?"

What are the recommended dimensions for an enclosure? How much space is required for 32 input MD?

Okay, I have ordered all parts. The ribbon cables for LCD and Audio jacks are on the way.

Now (drum roll please) I am going to start soldering. Is it best to put the ICs on last? Or does it matter?

Wish me luck :geek:

It is better to use IC sockets like these http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?Mod ... 0&doy=25m7 and only insert ICs when all other parts are soldered and you checked and then double checked your board for short circuits and continuity.

Good luck!

Dmitri,

Do you have a larger .jpg of the megadrum logo that I could use for my build? I would like to have it on the front of the box. :ugeek:

How do I attach the jacks to the ribbon without splitting the ribbon into shreds? I have seen some sort of pcd board in some of the pics. It looks alot cleaner that way.

How do you do that?
