ANYONE !!!!!!! Simple wiring question

can someone please tell me what is the proper type of potentiometer to use for my drums .. Linear? rotary? tapper? 100k? 10k?

I'm not an electrical expert .. so hopefully, someone can tell me.

You mean for a HiHat controller?
