help, hihat pedal not responding on startup

Postby kurtus420 » Tue Jun 16, 2009 9:10 pm

Hello, I just finished my v2.8 megadrum build and have no problems so far other than the fact that when I turn megadrum on it doesn't recognize my Roland FD-8 hihat pedal. I have it wire as tip low imped, ring power, sleeve ground. I also have a stdp switch on it for the high and low impedance. If I unplug the pedal the midi light flashes and everything starts to work, if I switch the impedance switch off and back on it will work? Don't know whats going on here, any suggestions? Thanks
ps, I don't seem to be getting much range on the pedal either, it only response when I have a bit of pressure on the pedal in it's fully closed state?

Thanks Dmitri, from what can see I have wired it this way.
Sleeve ground, ring power source, tip low impedance input.
Did I miss somthing? Does it make a differance if I use a mono or stereo cable? I used my fd8 with a mono cable on my trigger io and had no problems but I didn't think about this when I wired my Megadrum and used the mono cable with my pedal. Should I be using a stereo cable?

I don't have FD8 but I think you should be using a stereo cable.

Do you have AutoLevels set to Yes?

yes, it is set to default. It's as if I have powered up my megadrum without the pedal plugged in, it does nothing until I switch the 3 position toggle swith from low impedance to off and back to low impedance that it starts to recognize the pedal. Is the meter supposed to show full even though my pedal isn't plugged in when turned on?

problem solved, apparently because I'm so jumpy I needed to save a configuration and now it is responding fine on start up. Thanks for your help dmitri.
