Megadrum combined with drum module?

Just had a thought, is it possible to plug the midi out from the megadrum into a drum module to trigger sounds when I use the triggers in the megadrum.

I know for most people here it would seem wierd to have the two units when you could just plug the pads directly into the module. But my megadrum is going to be housed in a woodern body with all the pads soldered to it rather than removable connections.

So for me it would be handy to be able to plug my megadrum/zen into the module of my electric kit just for practicing.
Plus it may be a while before I build my proper pc rig.

So my question is, is it possible? If it is possible can I programme more tirggers than the standard number of inputs in the module, so all 56?

Yes, I do it all the time with my Alesis DM-5 module. You connect them with a midi cable. It works quite well.

Yes, you could also use all 56 as well. You might not be able to hit all 56 at once and have your module trigger them, but so long as it has flexible MIDI setup there should be no reason you can't map all 56 to new sounds. I can see why they might artificially limit it to only supporting the number of inputs the unit itself has but there's no technological reason they couldn't do it. (anyone else hate how they put artificial limits on everything?)
