Size limitation in 'Shareware GNMIDI'?
What is the translation of the error?

oh sorry, forgot about that.
It says: Error in [filepath] line 1, followed by the two symbols as seen in the picture. I found nothing about size limitiation in "Shareware GNMIDI".
I also tried another program, called "Bome's SendSX 1.30". This one also crashed ... I guess I will have to do the LPT programming way, but I still would like to test it with an older firmware. Can you please provide me with a link?
Thanks!

Try this:
+ Play some music with Media player - seriously!

+ Do the following again so you are left with Midi-OX still open and Megadrum with its' LED continuously lit.

thramul wrote:ok, the additional resistance worked very well, windows is able to detect megadrum again. I also was able to erease the firmware, but still, I cannot send the new firmware. When I sent the erase programm, the midi led was blinking and very soon the LCD showed: "ERASED". But when I try to send the new firmware, the midi LED is just alight and nothing happens at all.

+ Now *carefully* connect pins 1 and 3 on the ISCP 18F2550 header (don't let pin 2 connect to pin 3!).

+ Try and close Midi-OX - don't worry when things seem not to be functioning here.

+ Remove your short from the ISCP 18F2550 header.

+ Wait for Midi-OX to close - this could take up to a minute, so enjoy the music.

+ Open Midi-OX again and send the megadrum32_16_32_20090326.syx file.

I tried it and it helped with the problem of midi ox crashing everytime I shut it down, but unfortunately not with the firmware issue.
Still, my megadrum is running again - even with the new firmware! I build the ICSP cable and followed the instructions of the documentation, I loaded the firmware "manually" via ponyprog. I tripple checked the resistances and other electronic elements and its all correct, so I can only suppose, that something with the IC's is wrong in this case. When I have time again, I will renew them and see, if this helps.
But for now, I'm happy with the new firmware :)
Thank you all so much for your help! This is service at its best ;)
greetings,
Matthias

Need to test if the PIC can be made to stall just with PD0/1 - if so it may explain some other problems too...
