Hi-Hat pedal not picked up in MegaDrum Config Tool

Please help.

My config is as follows...
Roland kit with FD-8 pedal.
v3.1 MegaDrum Board including 2 daughter boards for jacks.

I have my whole kit plugged in and it all works except for the pedal.

What do I have to do to get the MegaDrum Config tool to pickup my hi-hat Pedal?

I'm guessing that I either connection for the pedal is incorrect or the settings for the pedal are incorrect.

If I just take the pedal and plug a stereo jack into it and test the other side of the cable then when not pressed nothing is connected, when pressed then earth and tip are connected.

I plug it into the hi-hat pedal jack.

I really am quite lost when configuring the MegaDrum Config Tool.
I would play until I get it right but I'm a bit worried that I might do something wrong.
If I mess things up is there a way to reset the configuration?
I also think... don't fix it if it ain't broke, and at the moment only the pedal isn't working.

You can save configs into internal MegaDrum's EEPROM or with MCT onto a PC.
