Keith Raper circuitry

Postby stefan1982 » Sat Dec 03, 2016 11:33 am

Anyone know a place where to buy project boxes with the KR-circuitry inside? I'm no expert at soldering and DIY electronics, so I would like to buy a few.
Anyone any idea?

Or does anybody want to build a few, and sell them to me?

I'm about 99% sure that those who tried this circuit couldn't really get it to work reliably with Megadrum - it was intended to work with Yamaha modules and does seem to be useful for specific cases with that, but as far as I can recall people gave up on it. What were you looking to do with it?

bell/bow separation without all the hassle of having to create separate bells and all that, for my ride cymbal...

Did you try just using 2 piezos? I got quite reliable separation doing it that way.

Jes I tried, but without a good result. Could be the placement of the piezo's though...

How did you positioned your piezo's?

One smaller 15 mm piezo inside the bell and a 27 mm one positioned more or less in the middle of the bow, slightly towards the edge. Pots or trimmers on the piezos would help too (much easier than a Raper circuit), to make one piezo cooler than the other (if one keeps insisting on triggering instead of the other, you cool it down a little). Then, you put them in the same xtalk group, crank xtalk up on both, and then do the usual with threshold, etc. Worked very well for me.
