@Dmitry:
1. If you can't see differences it is ok but from my point of view snare drum have much more advanced triggering for that smoothness and flow like real snare drum (Hi hat too),
2.I respect your commitment to do this tests and I believe you that you had similar results, I wish that this guy from video can do his honest opinion in terms of smoothness, sensitivity...because
there is a need for second part of this story- a pro musician and his word is important here too.
3.No I do not have TD30, I have tried, played, felt that module and just wanted to elaborate their tech in comparison of TMI devices. I have huge respect for your work, you are a maker of impossible. My intention is not to diminish the value of your work, just to 'brake' that tech and their algorithms, to better understand what are they done there.
Thank you for responding Dmitry, keep this project going in right direction as always.
@ignotus:
Do you have some prove for that deny? I have quoted one of important Roland guy that know what he talking about, it is not my 'false premise' .
I dont know how 2 ignotus but they have done the job. Why they can't change parametres of signals from phisical strokes through algorithms and other parameters for certain playing situation? All that modules manipulate with that parametres in plenty ways, they just go further and added some different drum techniques in equations. How module detect those changes is their secret but its not that simple as you think.
This drummer is studio drummer IMO and he is good. It's not just quality of his playing in this eg, there's sensitivity, smoothness...
One eg. How do you think they got a shallow rim shots with piezo/piezo snare drum, even with superior drummer? There is some algorithm that combines position of stokes and piezos signals to reproduce this stroke thru midi to vst.
I can play snare drum in my way that is come from practising exercises that I like. If you want to play those stickings take STICK CONTROL (George L Stone), practise and you will have your unique way to play snare drum. He play snare drum rudiments and their hybrids with some soloing and couple of grooves, and yes he do that like a pro. He have some unique phrasing and sticking that are probably made by himself.
@airflamesred:
''There are plenty of algorithms in Roland modules that are there to attempt to replicate the parameters that change as a drum is struck with differing velocities and in different areas.''
That is what I try to tell. It may not be related only to basic sound samples from module.
