Issues with my megadrum v3.1

Postby madmax » Tue Feb 09, 2010 1:42 pm

Hi,

yesterday I finaly soldered my megadrum using the Synthex v3.1 PCB.
After a quick test yesterday night the LCD showed the message "xxx by Synthex" on the LCD for a few seconds, then I saw the empty bars.
Today I plugged it into my computer and it gets recognized as "MEGADRUM USB Midi" on Windows, even my Mac recognizes it:
USB Bus:

Host Controller Location: Built-in USB
Host Controller Driver: AppleUSBOHCI
PCI Device ID: 0x0aa5
PCI Revision ID: 0x00b1
PCI Vendor ID: 0x10de
Bus Number: 0x04

MegaDrum USB MIDI:

Product ID: 0x7070
Vendor ID: 0x04d8 (Microchip Technology Inc.)
Version: 0.01
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: MegaDrum Ltd.
Location ID: 0x04100000
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 200

The strange thing however is when I plug it in using USB , now it does not show the starting message anymore, but the first row of the LCD is empty and on the second row all bars are fully lighting up white.
The led also lights on startup.
Any ideas on where to start looking for an error? Or why does it not show the startup message anymore?

This is how it looks like currently:

Have you looked at MegaDrum FAQ. Read it before posting in this forum! and noticed the last point in there?

I wonder what is this? MegaDrum firmware can't have it programmed anywhere so you'll need to ask Synthex about what is programmed in Atmega.

I am not 100% sure but i think yesterday it displayed something like this:
"megadrum.info xxx", and after a few seconds it displayed the VU meter.
I got confused by this picture:

Yes, I read the post.
I don't think that the Atmega is faulty because I can read and write configuration settings using the MCT.
Also the backlight should not be the problem, as I can see something, and yesterday it showed the menu but I did not change anything.
I already checked the connections from LCD and Atmega, but I will doublecheck now.
