DIY cones

I been trying to make my own foam-cones, and my latest attempt involves liquid latex and baking powder.

I read somewhere that if you mix liquid latex and baking powder and heat it, you will get latex-foam, but all the tiny air bubbles seam to go to the top of my mold, and I end up with a relatively hard latex-rubber at the bottom and a softer at the top.

Have any of you tried to make latex-foam, and how did you do it?

I know that I could just buy them from (insert favorite cone-maker here), but where's the fun in that

Making your own foam certainly takes DIY to another level...
I haven't heard of much success in that endeavour. Good luck!

The ones I'm using now, is also made out of these sanding-blocks, I just thought it would be cool to cast them myself.

Below is a picture of what I have so far and the mold I use, just in case anyone want to try it.
I use 1/4L liquid latex with a spoonful of baking powder.

I am using the megacone from the first post in a drum designed for the London 2012 olympic games. The cost of a *very* large PZT is prohibitive so the design uses a hall effect transducer.

Unfortunately the head diameter is so large that it has had too much displacement for my design and you may have seen that my posting for help came to nought.
