MD on 9V battery

How long will MD work on standard 9V battery (approx.)?
There will be no hi-hat in use.

You can expect anything from 2 to 16 (and maybe more) hours, depending on the type of battery in question. Unfortunately, I do not know how much power is consumed by MegaDrum, so I cannot tell you more than that.

You can test it yourself though. Should you obtain any practical results, do share them with us via this thread. I cannot imagine why I would want my MD to work off a 9V battery, but it is a matter of interest.

I hate to break it to ya, but it will still need to be wired to the computer unless you have some kind of wireless midi cable..... now that would be cool, I wonder if it's been done before?

Yep it's been done..... M-Audio has one.

It's quite easy to make by yourself using Bluetooth, for example (provided that you are familiar with embedded systems design). That is, if you can find a cheap and reliable BT module

Firelord, have you seen this done? I am working on an Arduino controlled midi light controller that I think would be killer in a wireless form. Here is a link to my progress on vdrums.com. Some of you DIY'ers might find this an interesting project to go with your MD.

Yeah, I see it in my head! Anyway, I don't see a reason not to try this. Maybe Bluetooth is too expensive for this task, then some other form of radio transmission could be used. It's just a matter of research. Of course, making it work in full-duplex with several devices might be a challenge (did I tell you that I love challenges?)

I've also built midi lights, but simple version using miduino board, but it is working like I've wanted.
Regarding wireless MIDI - M-Audio is also my option, but right now I'm thinking about something to build by myself...

I considered going wireless when i started coming up with ideas for my zendrum build. Oddly enough shortly after the guys at zendrum announced they were now doing wireless. Almost in the same way i was going to do it, found this nice flush battery box http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/9_Volt ... ews_BB-04# i was going to use two of them, one to power the megadrum and another to power the wireless. and was going to just get some sort of wireless midi rig that i could fit inside the zendrum body.

In the end it was too much money to put into my first build if it didn't go well. And thats a good thing because i made my zendrum no where near as thick as the official ones and even had trouble fitting the megadrum board, so housing the wireless midi as well would have been a nightmare. Fortunately i've learn from that and so on the next build i'll probably look into the wireless some more. (as well as maybe integrated keyboard and light up switches for loops etc , it's gonna be crazy)

What sort of price are we talking for bluetooth? the wireless midi system i looked into where in the hundreds, but i'm guessing they'd have much better range.
