1 stupid question. if i don't buy the Synthex's kit....

Postby ivawzh » Mon May 03, 2010 5:51 pm

here is my stupid question.
if i don't buy the kit, is there any chance that i can program all the chips by myself?
how to do so? and what kinda tools do i need?
i will bloody deeply appreciate whoever can give me a helpful tutorial (for both 18F14K50 and Atmega644-20PU).
im planning to build a 32input megadrum.
i just wannna have a totally self-made edrum, though i would love to pay for the Synthex's kit and support the amazing work you guys are doing.

btw plz forgive my poor english, im a jap. thanks for your help. (bow)

Of course it's possible - many people have built their own modules from scratch. As for programming the chips, I don't know the story with the 18F14K50, but you can use an 18f2550 (I think it is; don't worry, it's in the schematics) and all the information on how to program them can be found on the megadrum website in the 'Documentation' section. All you need are a couple of cables (info on the website about how to make them too, very simple) and a PC with a com port and a parallel port.

The rest is just careful soldering and patience.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.
