Alesis Hi-hat pedal

Postby pepelepew » Mon May 17, 2010 10:41 am

Hi.
Has anyone got any experience getting the hi-hat pedal that comes with the Alesis DM-5 pro kit working with a megadrum? All my other inputs are fine but I get no response at all from the hi-hat pedal. I've tried every setting that looks relevant on the megadrum. I'm using v3.2 with the April 2010 firmware.
Cheers

That pedal is probably just an on/off switch since the dm5 doesn't support a variable hi hat. Make sure it is set to switch and not pot. I can't remember the exact setup for it.

1. Make sure that the input you use for the pedal matches the AltIn setting.
2. Set LowLevel and HiLevel to 300.
3. Set AutoLevels to Yes
4. Press the pedal a few times.
5. Look up what values you got in LowLevel and HiLevel and post it here.

Hi.
I've set the type to f.contrl and I have set altin to no as I am using the standard jack inpu. I have set low level to 299 and high to 300 but the low level then changes to 271 (if I set alt in as yes I end up with 292 low and 892 high) Autolevels are set to yes. Pressing the pedal still does nothing though.
Thanks

1. Set LowLevel and HiLevel to 200. Repeat the procedure. What levels do you get?

But at 300 it doesn't?

My apologies. I had changed the reverse kevels setting during the tests. With reverse levels set to yes then the high level always goes to 638. If put the levels up to 750 or so then the hi hat open closed indicator on the megadrum config tools begins to change from zero but this value never changes in esponse to hitting the peddle (although I'm not sure if it's meant to) and the midi note from the hihat never changes in response to the peddle. What am I trying to achieve here? Find a very very small range of low and high level that the peddle switches between?

Why do you set LvlsRevers to Yes?
You need to find which level MegaDrum reads from the pedal when it is pressed (Low) and depressed(high). After that you disable AutoLevels to No, set LevelLow 10-20 higher and LevelHigh 10-20 lower.

OK. I'll try and track down the levels tonight and hopefully post results tomorrow.
