I will look at it after I'm back on 3rd March.

Note: accidentally the decay of the snare sample is a bit different between MEGADRUM and ROLAND files (Due to a restart of cubase without saving the AD preset...).
But things don't change. You may however appreciate the difference in triggering.

Hi Dmitri. Things are going way better.
I changed my snare design:
1) Realized new center pick up, more like a Roland, with a suspended heavy metal plate that give more sturdy signal and even better separation from rim piezo (not necessary, but however nice feature for x-stick detection)
2) new neoprene harder cone (i call it "Kebap" cone, cause i used several layer of 3mm neoprene discs!)
3) Swapped polarity of the center piezo (now like Roland wiring)

I made the 3) mod, because i noticed that with the new pick up, the first half wave became negative (???). Before, (like in the files i mailed to you) was positive. Strange....
Anyway, now my snare is OK! I think it will be still better with a double ply head.

SYS!

Good because I still have not had time to look at your files because of the backlog of orders.

Go for it! See here: http://www.drum-tec.de/meshheads-drumtec-design-c-57_110.html

Greats

Okay, so this is kind of an old subject and I don't know if there is a true definitive answer...but is has it been stated anywhere that piezos in our DIY pads should be wired per the Roland standard, or per the Alesis standard?

I think the difference is in the foam tape shape and hardness UNDER the piezo and his "pivoting" effect. I reduced the ray, so the strike force goes more to the ring then to the center of piezo, inverting phase. So electrical polarity inversion is required.
The target is to have first half wave positive (most with PS!).

yeah, I've read that having a positive first half wave is important for positional sensing on the Megadrum. And my understanding is that it's simply a matter of how you have the piezo wired. But I don't remember seeing a thread that identifies which wiring method produces a positive first half wave...ceramic to tip, brass to sleeve? or ceramic to sleeve, brass to tip?

And on a slightly different note, if it turns out that the wiring should be the opposite of what Roland's pads use then how is Roland getting positional sensing?
