MCT fw update status

Postby el-dr » Wed Jun 24, 2009 11:48 am

Would it be possible to add a section to the MCT manual that would always show the current status of its ability to handle fw updates (or at least a sticky post in the SW forum)? I discovered a few weeks ago that the fw upgrade was broken after wasting some time on it, then I read it somewhere (I can't remember where, though) that the fw upgrade works for the "old" bootloaders, which I don't know how to identify and I guess I'm not the only one. Gathering all the relevant info to one place would be great.

Now in the software if you have selected a v3 or v4 bootloader, you cannot access uploading firmware because it gives you a warning becaus now it does not work for those bootloaders. dmitri, Ken and me are trying to solve it

Dmitri,

how can I tell the version of a bootloader? I had one where the MIDI LED was blinking when booting up for a firmware update and there's another one where it wasn't. Right now all my Atmegas have the same bootloader, which was downloaded from the Download page here, but the MegaDrum_bootloader.zip file doesn't say much about the version and neither does the filename "bootloader644.hex".

Those on the Download page (with the blinking MIDI LED) are v4.

I think I know what you mean. When you get a popup with a new firmware update, you can update it. Damn it, I forgot that

Thanks for the addition, now it clearly shows the status. I hope the message at the bottom will change soon...
